Evesham United Women 1-1 Ross Juniors Women
Saturday 2nd May 2026

Match Report by Simon Corbett

On a lovely sunny Thursday evening Ross Women were the visitors to the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium for Evesham’s first midweek fixture of the season. Evesham had beaten Ross 0-8 away from home earlier in the season in what was an outstanding performance but were very wary that it wouldn’t be the same story this time around.

Goalkeeper Chloe Raxter, Zoe Bloss, Freya Bostock and Jess Kenny were back in the starting line up.

Evesham couldn’t have got off to a worst start when a corner was headed in by an unmarked Ross Defender that had ventured forward, a great header for a 0-1 lead after only a couple of minutes.

The goal saw Evesham in a position not often witnessed in over a year, a goal down and it rocked the hosts with the visitors coming close again shortly after. Evesham couldn’t keep hold of the ball and their normal composed approach was far from present.

Everything seemed rushed and chances forced but also looking vulnerable to the counter. Evesham first half chance came when Kate mills found space on the right but her strike was straight at the keeper, Kenny did the same, and F. Bostock and Grace Finch both fired wide.

This was a more threading Ross side to the one Evesham easily defeated early in the season and as the halftime whistle approach, the play became more even and settled with neither side giving an inch and Evesham desperate to get back level.

The second half started with Evesham on the front foot, there must have been words from Manager Mark Taylor as things improved immediately. Early pressure saw F. Bostock hit the post before she levelled following a corner.

The home side were enjoying the majority of possession but the visitors were restricting Evesham to half chances with some excellent defending. Ella Parkinson came on for Mills and a nice run on the left from Liv Tresigne found Finch who’s cross was headed over from F. Bostock. Tresigne was replaced by Tullulah Brown as Evesham and more forwards to the game.

The visitors were still threatening on the break with Millie Malsom in fine form ensuring Chopper Pitts and K. Bostock we’re alert in clearing the danger.

Another Striker came on with Saff Boswell in for Finch as the hosts looked for a winner. That chance fell to the hosts as F. Bostock headed wide when well placed before a huge moment at the other end saw Malsom with the goal gaping but for Keeper Raxter to make an expert save down to her left so keep it level.

We weren’t done there! F. Bostock found herself behind the last defender with the keeper advancing but hit the base of the post as and excellent encounter finished 1-1.

A great advert for the women’s game in front of a good crowd.

POM Chloe Raxter.

The next game is tomorrow, Sunday, in another big one v Dudley Town Ladies KO 2 pm @ Kewford Eagles FC ground.
