Evesham United resume their home campaign in the Southern League Premier South on Saturday when Chichester City will make the long journey north to the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium from West Sussex.
Following on from Saturday’s first-game heroics at Basingstoke, the Robins were brought rapidly back to down to earth on Tuesday evening, suffering a four-goal defeat at home to a very impressive Frome Town.
Like Evesham, Chichester find themselves on three points from their opening two games, having suffered a home defeat on opening day at Oaklands Park to Poole Town by two goals to one, but bouncing back strongly in midweek with an away victory at Wimborne Town, the only goal of the game coming by way of a Harry Bridle penalty.
The Lilywhites were transferred to the Southern League Premier South during the summer from the Isthmian Premier Division, where they finished 12th last season. Saturday’s fixture will also mark the first-ever meeting between the two clubs.
After the disappointment of Tuesday evening, the Robins will be looking for a strong reaction, and what better way to do that than back at the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium, with another hot day in prospect and the home supporters ready to get behind the team.
