Match Report: Evesham United Women 4 Halesowen Town Women 5

Sunday 17th August 2026 West Midlands Women’s Regional League Division One South

On a lovely sunny afternoon, Evesham Utd Women began life at Tier 6, West Midlands Women’s Regional League Division One South for the first time as they welcomed Halesowen Town Women to the Spires & Hartwell Stadium.

Three new summer additions made starts with Sydney McKenzie in goal, Tamzin Hayward in midfield and Natalie Sewell in attack.

From the start, the visitors were on top and scored within minutes. Evesham lost the ball in midfield and were swiftly punished. The quality of the crossing from wide, as well as set pieces, was causing Evesham problems and one of these found a free head to make it two within ten minutes.

The hosts looked lively themselves, with Freya Bostock, Saff Boswell and Sewell causing the visitors defence problems, but the visitors increased their lead with a strike from distance.

Evesham needed a lift and got it when they were awarded a penalty for a handball. F. Bostock despatched make it 1-3 as the teams gathered for a hydration break. After the pause, the hosts were on top, playing some lovely one-touch football but not finishing it off with a goal that they deserved.

Despite this, the visitors still looked dangerous when going forward, and McKenzie made a fine stop later in the half. Evesham got back within one before the break with another F. Bostock strike as they went in at half time with their tails up.

The start of the second half saw Evesham come out looking to draw level, and it didn’t take long, with a fine strike from Boswell into the far corner for 3-3. Boswell and Sewell had opportunities to complete the turnaround, but both couldn’t quite find the back of the net when we’ll placed.

The play was switching from one end to the other with both teams looking for more goals, and it was the visitors who edged ahead with another fine strike from distance. Evesham still had chances before Halesowen made it 3-5, so changes were made in an attempt to get back level once again.

Kate Mills, Tallulah Brown, Chloe Dyer and another debutant, Isla Campbell, came on as Evesham continued to look to get a positive result. With some more decent opportunities, Sewell scored a well deserved goal for 4-5 but ultimately ran out of time as Halesowen Town saw out the victory.

Evesham produced a great performance following a slow and perhaps nervy first ten minutes at this level and certainly deserved something out of the game, but credit to Halesowen Town Women as they took the points with an equally good effort themselves.

Full time 4-5

Player of the Match: Natalie Sewell
