Match Report by Simon Corbett

Evesham United Women were back in action on Sunday following a Mothers Day, fixture free weekend, looking to stay on top of the league with the visit of Kingfisher Women Devs.

On a dry and bright Sunday afternoon, Manager Mark Taylor made three changes with Captain Chopper Pitts and Vice Captain Yaz Gachette unavailable. Chloe Dyer and Emma Stevens came into to the starting line up alongside Ella Parkinson who replaced Top Goalscorer Grace Finch who started from the bench.

Right from the first whistle, the home side were on the front foot and finally Kingfishers resistance was broken 15 minutes in when Freya Bostock netted for 1-0 and a deserved lead.

Minutes later, a pass from Saff Boswell found Captain for the day, Liv Tresigne who scored from around 25 yards with an unstoppable effort.

Further chances came for Jess Kenny and F. Bostock and a Tresigne corner rattled the crossbar before the third goal came via an excellent Dyer through ball and a calm finish by F. Bostock.

The scoring continued when a cross come shot from Parkinson hit a defender and went in to make it 4-0. The visitors did make inroads into the final third with a couple of searching balls although from the resultant corners, the defence cleared comfortably and without a worry.

The fifth goal came when Tresigne’s pass found Boswell who at first glance looked offside but regardless, she cooly finished for five.

Just before the half time whistle, Dyer made it six with her first of the season on what was her first start following a lengthy injury lay off.

Within seconds of the restart a determined run on the right from Parkinson found Boswell for her second of the match.

Taylor began to ring the changes with substitutions coming thick and fast. Sophie Newby and Grace Dolphin came on for Parkinson and Beattie Jutel who had made excellent contributions.

The chances kept coming with a Boswell shot hitting the post and an F. Bostock header clearing the bar from a Kenny corner. It was from another Kenny corner shortly afterwards that Newby netted with an excellent header.

Kingfisher rarely attacked in the second period, the only chance of note was dealt with by the central defensive pairing of Kyra Bostock and Emma Stevens, who herself was starting her first game in a couple of years following knee surgery.

F. Bostock got the ninth to complete her hat trick before Grace Finch, Helen Bourne and Jen Bent came on.

F. Bostock got her fourth of the match with a thunderous strike into the top corner before another own goal made it 11-0.

Kate Mills returned to the action late on with a great finish to make it 12-0.

Credit to the visitors who continued to fight throughout, never dropping their heads in what was always going to be a tough ask for them.

Player of the Match was Liv Tresigne who lead the team well, produced an excellent all round performance, scoring a wonderful goal.

Next game is a trip to Kempsey to play Kempsey Phoenix Lasies on Sunday KO 2pm.
