Match Report by Simon Corbett
On a damp and dreary day at the base of the Malvern Hills, Evesham Utd Women travelled to Welland for their latest Midwest Counties Female Football league fixture. Manager Mark Taylor switched to a 4-4-2 bringing in Ella Parkinson and Grace Dolphin for the unavailable Jess Kenny and Kate Mills.
The game got underway on a difficult surface and it didn’t take the visitors long to open the scoring when a through ball found Parkinson in space on the right, she carried the ball forward before cooly lobbing the keeper.
A corner from Liv Tresigne found its way to Grace Finch who shot over when well placed. The home sides first pressure was a corner which was easily defended, headed away by Kyra Bostock.
Just after the half hour mark a familiar surging run from Yaz Gachette put Saff Boswell through on goal but a defender did well to get back in and scupper the chance. From the resultant corner, Tresigne delivered a dangerous corner, and Boswell headed home, unmarked for a 0-2 half-time lead.
With the slope at their back and some stern words at half-time, Evesham upped the intensity after the break, penning Welland back, forcing errors and putting the home team under relentless pressure. It was soon 0-3 after a good cross from Dolphin was fumbled into the net via a goalkeeper and defender. A nice interchange between Tresigne and Tullulah Brown saw the later score with a fine finish.
Shortly after, another corner landed at the feet of Brown who poked in her second. Substitutions were made with Sophie Newby making here debut, Millie Whitehead, Emma Stevens and Helen Bourne all coming into the game. Brown completed her hat trick from close range after the keeper spilled a Tresigne shot before Bourne found Newby with a through ball in which her determined run resulted a cool finish into the far corner.
The final goal of the game came when Bourne latched on to a through ball and fired in for the 0-8 win. Keeper Chloe Raxter, Captain “Choper” Pitts and Bostock all deserve a mention, remaining focussed and dealing with the sporadic Welland attacks.

On Sunday we welcome Bromsgrove Sporting Development to the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium, KO 2 pm.
