Pitching In Southern League Premier South

Evesham United welcome Gosport Borough to the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium on Saturday for a crucial game in the fight to retain their membership of the Southern League Premier South.

The visitors from Hampshire have already secured a mid-table finish, despite losing each of their last four matches. That run led to the departure of manager Glenn Howes by mutual consent on Wednesday.

The Robins responded emphatically to the disappointment of the Bank Holiday defeat at Yate with a blistering home performance which earned them a 3-1 victory against newly crowned champions Walton & Hersham last weekend and now have their fate back in their own hands being 2 points clear of 19th placed Weymouth and with a still potentially huge game against 18th placed Taunton Town in Devon next week to round off the season.

Mike Ford’s side were narrowly beaten in the reverse fixture at Privett Park back in December, conceding the only goal of the game shortly after half-time and will be eager to gain revenge this weekend while taking a significant step back towards securing Step 3 football for another season.
