Match Report: Evesham United 3-2 Bracknell Town

Saturday 31st October 2026 – Southern League Premier Division South

Evesham United ended a run of six consecutive defeats in all competitions with a determined comeback victory over Bracknell Town on Saturday. A 91st-minute winner from Sup Obieri completed an impressive display of resilience from the young Evesham side.

Bracknell made a fast start and took the lead after just four minutes. A left-sided cross found Marcus Daws inside the area to the right of goal, and he struck a precise first-time shot into the bottom corner.

Evesham responded in the seventh minute when Owen Foye delivered a deep cross from the left towards Thomas Conteh. However, Conteh’s header went well wide of the visitors’ goal.

Bracknell continued to apply pressure and doubled their advantage in the 13th minute. Harry Cooksley sent a low cross into the Evesham penalty area, where Bracknell captain Adam Liddle connected while sliding in to score.

Evesham appeared to be in danger of losing control of the match, but the hosts regrouped and gradually settled. Shortly after the half-hour mark, Josh Barlow played the ball to returning midfielder Lewis Middleton, who released Kai Churchley towards goal. Churchley beat a defender and shot past goalkeeper Gio Clarke. The ball then deflected off James Taylor and into the net.

Evesham continued to threaten during a strong spell. Stephen Walsh came closest when he cut in from the left and struck a goal-bound effort that was blocked on the line by the Bracknell defence.

A minute before half-time, Bradley Wilson shifted the ball onto his right foot and produced an excellent shot, which Evesham goalkeeper Brendan Beard tipped over the bar.

The second half was closely contested. A cross from Churchley found Ioan Richards at the back post, but his header was turned around the post for a corner. Rocco Sughayer and Player of the Match Beard then combined effectively to prevent a Bracknell attack from developing.

Just after the hour mark, Cooksley made a strong run into the area before seeing his angled shot well saved by Beard. A minute later, a Churchley effort rebounded to Brandon Liggett, whose follow-up was cleared off the line.

Evesham equalised in the 65th minute. Churchley drove into the area and saw Clarke push his shot into the air. The ball returned to Churchley, whose short pass found Conteh. From seven yards, Conteh fired into the bottom-left corner.

Bracknell almost restored their lead a minute later when Daws shot across Beard, but the goalkeeper tipped the effort over the bar. From the resulting corner, Daws sent a follow-up effort well over the goal before forcing another save from Beard soon afterwards.

With five minutes of normal time remaining, Casey Bocarro struck a powerful effort from 20 yards. The ball hit the bar, bounced down onto the goal line and was subsequently cleared by the Evesham defence.

With 90 minutes nearly played, Foye delivered a well-weighted free-kick into the area. Max Asante-Boakye flicked the ball on, but it struck the post.

Evesham completed the comeback in the first minute of added time. Obieri, who had been on the pitch for five minutes, collected a pass from Conteh. Although Clarke forced him wide, Obieri showed close control sorcery on Halloween to create an opening and finished confidently into the bottom corner.

The result represented a significant setback for Bracknell, who surrendered a two-goal lead. For Evesham, the win lifted the team four places up the table and gave them a major confidence boost.

Their next fixture is away to bottom side Chippenham Town in Wiltshire on Tuesday.
