Match Report: Halesowen Town Women 4-0 Evesham United Women

Sunday 25th October 2026 – West Midlands Women’s Regional League Division One South

Evesham Utd Women travelled to Birmingham for an early top-of-the-table clash against Halesowen Town Women. A tough game was expected, and with a very strong swirling wind, the Robins would need to be on point against a team with a 100% opening record.

Evesham welcomed back Chloe Raxter, returning in goal in the league for the first time this season, and Manager Mark Taylor handed a league debut to new signing Matilda Harris, who has joined from Hereford FC. Natalie Sewell and Ria Salleh were missing for The Robins.

With Halesowen having a strong wind at their backs, the first half was always going to be difficult, and it didn’t start well with Saff Boswell going down early. Good play from Freya Bostock on the left saw her attempts sniffed out as the visitors were limited to very little. The hosts took the lead and soon doubled it twice; some indecision/communication at the back and Evesham found themselves up against it. Shortly after, the afternoon got worse as Midfielder Tamzin Hayward slid into the pitch-side metal fence, resulting in her having to leave the field, replaced by Zoe Bloss. Boswell was soon replaced too as she was unable to continue, with Tallulah Brown coming on. It was no surprise with Halesowen on the front foot that the hosts hit the post before making it 3-0 with a shot from the left into the far corner for a healthy half-time lead.

The second half started brightly for Evesham, who in the first game of the season drew back level from 0-3 down against Halesowen, so the belief was there, but despite a change in shape and opportunities for F. Bostock and Brown, it wasn’t going to be.

Halesowen increased their lead to 4-0 before Evesham were forced into another change, Yaz Gachette falling heavily when off balance. Ella Parkinson replaced her and brought some real attacking threat; her pace on the right was causing the hosts some problems as she was getting good crosses into the box. Brown had a good chance when through, but her touch took the ball wide, and the chance was gone. Halesowen nearly made it five but for a double save by Raxter and then the woodwork kept it out.

Full time 4-0, a gritty performance with plenty of positives despite the defeat. Two sides with differing ambitions for the season, yet for this to be billed as a table-topping clash is testament to how well Evesham Utd Women have begun their journey at Tier 6.

Next game is on Sunday 01/11/26 at Home v Worcester City Women U21S. KO 2 pm.
