Match Report by Simon Corbett

Evesham Utd Women played Worcester City Lionesses for the third time this season knowing that they were in for a tricky encounter against a side that they’d failed to score against twice already this season and the only side that’s taken any points off the table toppers so far.

On a cool and blustery Sunday afternoon, Manager Mark Taylor made two changes to the starting 11 v Kempsey Phoenix with Kyra Bostock coming back in and Zoe Bloss, making her first start of the season, coming in for Chloe Dyer and Sophie Newby, Tallulah Brown returned from Suspension.

From the start it was apparent that the wind was going to play a part in proceedings but it didn’t take the home side long to score with Saf Boswell scoring from distance, surprising the keeper with her effort from range.

Kate Mills on the right was finding space and narrowly shot wide before it soon became two with Saff Boswell expertly finding Mills in space again on the right and she fired home at the near post to make it 2-0.

Another chance soon followed when Zoe Bloss found early substitute Chloe Dyer but she shot wide when well placed.

The play in the second half was very much down the one side of the pitch with the swirling wind affecting both teams but the home side were still bossing the game with the Midfield of Dyer, Yaz Gachette and Liv Tresigne winning the midfield battle.

Freya Bostock had a couple of good chances which were fired over before Taylor introduced T Brown into the game and with in seconds of her coming on, she tucked the ball home following a bit of pinball in the box.

Very little was seen of the visitors as an attacking force with the defence easily keeping them at distance, Raxter comfortably collecting a long range free kick and claiming the ball from a corner the only time she was called into action.

The fourth goal came when a great cross from Bloss found Mills who struck home for 4-0 and a very comfortable victory against what was always considered tough opposition.

Reporters POM was Kate Mills with Mills and Saff Boswell taking a shared award in the end.

Next game is Away at Nunnery Wood Utd Women on 19.04.26. KO 2 pm.
