PREVIEW: Hanwell Town vs Evesham United
Saturday 7th November 2026 – Southern League Premier Division South
Evesham United make the long trip to Hanwell Town on Saturday, looking to get their league form back on the rails after losing 4-2 at Chippenham Town on Tuesday night. The Robins brilliant 3-2 comeback win against Bracknell last Saturday put an end to a six game losing run and they’ll be keen to get back to winning ways again quickly.
Hanwell Town, known as the Geordies, play their football in the London Borough of Ealing and were formed in 1920 by a group of natives from Newcastle. Hence the black and white striped shirts and nickname. They have spent most of their 100 years or so playing in the Isthmian, Spartan and Southern leagues before reaching Step 3 in 2022. They have remained at this level for five seasons now, finishing 14th last season, five places and five points ahead of the Robins. Honours were shared last season with both sides winning their respective home games. Evesham ran out 1-0 winners at home, with Hanwell winning 2-0 at their Reynolds Field Perivale home.
This season, like the Robins, Hanwell have found it a bit of struggle, currently sitting two places and two points below Evesham in the league table, albeit with a game in hand. They have lost three of their last four games, most recently a 3-0 defeat at Poole Town on Tuesday evening.
The game promises to be a tense and closely fought encounter between two sides desperate to turn their recent fortunes around.
