On Tuesday evening the Robins stuck gold in the dying minutes of added time to go through to the next round of the Isuzu FA Trophy by beating Thatcham Town 2-1.

At the Mettal Stadium, the Robins had a steady start to the match. An early chance went just over the bar 13′, as did a free kick from Josh Barlow 32′. Alex Harris made a couple of important saves to keep the scores even during the first half.

Thatcham Town took the lead early in the second half with an effort by Sam Tanner 49′. Thatcham held onto that single-goal lead for the second half which looked like we would be waving bye, bye to the Fa Trophy for this season but all was not lost, from out of nowhere Levi Steele found the equaliser in added time 90’+3 to the delight of the Evesham travelling fans and the disgust of the home fans.

Would it be a penalty shoot-out we were all thinking but before we had time to consider that up pops Harry White with his first goal for 3 years to put us into the next round just 4 minutes later 90’+7 with the sound of cheats coming from the home fans, it was then an agonising wait for the final 2 minutes to be played out.

The Robins return to the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium with the visit of Bristol Manor Farm in the next round of the Isuzu FA Trophy 2nd Round Qualifying this Saturday 21st September, kicking off at 15:00.
