Match Report: Chippenham Town 4-2 Evesham United
Tuesday 3rd November 2026 – Southern League Premier Division South
Evesham United visited bottom-of-the-table Chippenham Town on Tuesday evening, hoping to build on Saturday’s comeback win over Bracknell Town with a second successive victory.
The hosts took the lead in the seventh minute when Marley Rose fired from the right side of the box into the far bottom corner.
United equalised three minutes later. Their high press paid off as Owen Foye won possession and found Stephen Walsh on the left. Walsh beat his defender and shot across the goalkeeper, the ball going in off the far post.
Chippenham responded with a Piotr Petrynski cross from the left that narrowly evaded Martell Taylor-Crossdale and Dylan Jones.
Soon afterwards, Brandon Liggett rose highest at the near post but headed Walsh’s left-wing corner wide.
Chippenham regained the lead after 20 minutes. Bradley Selwood found Jones on the edge of the area, and his low shot crept past the diving Brendan Beard. Two minutes later, Selwood’s long-range effort was deflected just wide of the top corner.
Rose then surged down the right and delivered a low cross for Taylor-Crossdale, who finished from close range to make it three.
The hosts made it four in the 37th minute. A flowing midfield move reached Rose, whose curling shot into the top corner left Beard with no chance. Jones nearly added a fifth after dribbling towards the box but fired just wide of the left post. At the other end, Kai Churchley shot well over shortly before half-time.
Evesham started the second half brightly. Foye’s through ball sent Churchley clear, but his lofted effort over goalkeeper Witchard struck the post. Marcon replied with a long-range shot for Chippenham, though Evesham were largely on the attack.
Midway through the half, Aaron Heap’s superb cross found Churchley at the far post, but he volleyed over.
Sup Obieri then shot out of the ground from the edge of the box. With ten minutes remaining, Witchard saved Anthony Mccormick’s header well. Evesham deservedly pulled a goal back when the goalkeeper parried Josh Barlow’s drive into the path of Thomas Conteh, who tapped in.
In the final action, Felix Miles linked up with Rose, whose shot was denied by a strong Evesham block.
Evesham’s improved second-half display could not undo the damage of a poor first half, leaving them with their sixth league defeat in seven games.
They next travel to Hanwell Town in West London on Saturday, hoping to get the season back on track.
