Match Report: Evesham United Women 2-1 Worcester City Women
Sunday 1st November 2026 – West Midlands Women’s Regional League Division One South
Evesham United Women welcomed Worcester City Women u21’s on a sunny yet cool autumn afternoon.
With a number of players unavailable through injury and other commitments, there was a welcomed return for Natalie Sewell, Ria Saleh and Chloe Dyer, all back in the starting line-up.
Early City pressure saw some really good play on several occasions, but the final pass was lacking. Freya Bostock and Saff Boswell were combining well for the home side and looking dangerous at times. The ball was sent in by Jess Kenny, and as it fell to Boswell, her shot went over the bar.
Another corner shortly afterwards again resulted in an Evesham shot at goal, but Keeper Becca Wood got down well to save. Sewell’s pace on the right was being used to good effect, but she was crowded out by the defence.
The visitors were quick on the break, with a first-time cross being claimed by keeper Chloe Raxter as neither side could find a breakthrough. It was end to end, with Ria Salleh then Jess Kenny finding F. Bostock but she was well tackled by the excellent Freya Wood.
City had a good chance to take the lead after a good move, but a weak shot didn’t trouble Raxter. A poor clearance from City’s keeper saw the ball fall to Sewell on the right, who shot first time but just wide from distance. A Boswell free kick was saved by the keeper, then a Kenny shot went just wide.
It was the visitors who took the lead when a through ball on the left was cleared by the outrushing Raxter but inadvertently found a City player who scored for 0-1. It was almost 0-2 just before half-time, with City hitting the bar.
Manager Mark Taylor changed the shape for the second half with Evesham reverting to a box midfield, Boswell a little deeper with Sewell and F. Bostock playing more centrally. Evesham’s performance certainly improved with the change, and it didn’t take long for them to get level.
A penalty was awarded after Sewell was fouled in the area; F. Bostock’s penalty was saved, but she followed up to score for 1-1. A Liv Tresigne shot went over before another penalty was awarded. A blatant push on F. Bostock gave her the chance from the spot once again, and this time she made no mistake from 12 yards.
Chloe Dyer who had a fine game at full back was replaced by Ellie Nash. Kyra Bostock made a couple of surging runs forward from defence on the left, but the visitors were still looking dangerous and searching for a leveller. Jen Bent came on for Boswell late on before Sewell’s cross was begging to be touched in, but Nash couldn’t get the right contact when well placed.
It finished 2-1 to Evesham, and despite not being at their best, another 3 points were added to the tally. A great game of football played in the right spirit with many good performances, so a well done to the entire squad for turning it around.
Next game is at Home on Sunday 08/11/26 against Premier Division leaders Hednesford Town Women. It’s sure to be a tough task for the Tier 6 side against undefeated Tier 5 opposition, but no doubt The Robins will come out fighting in their first League Cup fixture. KO 2 pm.
