Basingstoke Town vs Evesham United
Saturday 8th August 2026 Southern League Premier South
Evesham United kick off their second season at Step 3 of the non-league pyramid with a trip to Hampshire to take on Basingstoke Town at the Winklebury Sports Complex.
Manager Mike Ford has opted to fine-tune his squad rather than undertake a major summer overhaul, retaining the core of last season’s side, with the potential for additions still very much on the table.
Basingstoke finished 17th in the Southern League Premier South last season, one place above the Robins, whose dramatic final-day heroics at Taunton Town secured their Step 3 status on goal difference.
The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 1-0 victory for the hosts, with Billy Upton scoring a late winner for “The Stoke”. Evesham, however, will take confidence from last season’s opening-day performance, when they travelled to Weymouth and returned with an impressive 3-1 victory.
With both sides eager to make a positive start to the new campaign, the Robins will be aiming to begin the season with a valuable away victory, backed as ever by their loyal travelling support.
