Match Report: Redditch United 3-0 Evesham United

Saturday 19th August 2026 – Emirates FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round

Evesham United travelled to Redditch United for a Worcestershire derby in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round on Saturday, suffering a 3-0 defeat with all three goals arriving before half-time.

After a quiet start, Redditch opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Szhem Whyte-Hall headed Harrison Hazard’s cross into the bottom corner.

Evesham’s first effort on target came five minutes later as Kai Churchley struck from the edge of the area, but Rory Brown saved comfortably. Redditch nearly added a second shortly afterwards when William Fielding’s header from a Whyte-Hall cross was tipped away by Oscar Varney.

Churchley remained a threat and delivered a dangerous low cross in the 27th minute, but no one could convert. Redditch doubled their lead three minutes before the break when Alex Foreshaw tapped in after Hazard’s free-kick glanced off Owen Foye’s head. Hazard then went close himself before Fielding was denied from close range.

Deep into first-half stoppage time, Danny King headed home another Hazard corner to make it 3-0.

Evesham changed shape at the interval in an attempt to get back into the game. Following a subdued opening to the second half, Churchley burst down the right but fired over from a tight angle. King then threatened again for the hosts.

Evesham’s best chance came on 64 minutes when Josh Barlow’s cross found Foye at the far post, but the defender headed over. Redditch continued to create opportunities, with Ioan Richards clearing a Fielding effort off the line with 12 minutes remaining. Jeval Thompson-McKenzie later shot narrowly wide before Aaron Bishop saw a close-range effort blocked.

In the final minute, substitute Sopuru Obieri latched onto a long ball from Foye, shrugged off a defender and shot wide.

It was a disappointing display from Evesham, ending a three-match unbeaten run and rarely troubling the Redditch defence. Redditch progress to the Third Qualifying Round for the first time in 15 years, while Evesham now turn their attention to next Saturday’s FA Trophy home tie against Stratford Town.
