Our pre-season friendly matches have been tough with two 3-0 defeats against Cheltenham Town and Pershore Town. We have also had two 1-1 draws against Stratford Town and on Saturday against Sporting Club Inkberrow FC at The Recreation Ground.
With a mix of newly signed players, some of last year’s squad and some trialists for the 24/25 season the Robins go again on Tuesday night against Redditch United who play in the Southern League Central Premier Division (step 3).
Our visitors nicknamed the Reds are one of the longest-established football clubs in the Midlands, starting out as Redditch Town in the Birmingham Combination League in 1891 and being crowned the first winners of the Worcestershire Senior Cup in 1894.
The Reds are managed by Tim Flowers a former player who played as a goalkeeper from 1984 until 2003, notably in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers where he was part of the side that won the 1994–95 FA Premier League.
Flowers also played for Wolves, Southampton, Swindon Town, Leicester, Stockport, Coventry and Manchester City before going into coaching and management starting with Manchester City and working through clubs like Northampton, Kidderminster, Fulham, Solihull Moors to Macclesfield, Barnet, Stratford Town, Gloucester and Bromsgrove Sporting until arriving with the Reds at the end of May this year.
There is just one more match for Evesham this pre-season after the last home friendly match against Redditch United (home, Tuesday 23rd July, 19:30), that final fixture is away against Swindon Supermarine (away, Saturday 27th July, 15:00).
