Third-placed Robins left it late in the day to secure 3 points in the warm basking sunshine against 5th placed Mousehole, an 88th-minute flying header from Alfie Dunn and a clean sheet saw the Robins move into second place in the league table.
The match was very defensive with both sides treating each other respectfully and not taking unnecessary chances. The Seagulls’ skipper Mark Goldsworthy was the man who was constantly looking for the ball up front but was left frustrated throughout the match while the Robins were constantly searching out Levi Steele, who assisted Dunn’s goal. Torin Ntege impressed for the visitors but like Goldsworthy was becoming frustrated as the match wore on.
The Seagulls’ defensive play was solid with very few mistakes resulting in Chenoweth not having much to do between the sticks until later in the second half of the match, Alex Harris the other end hardly touched the ball all game with most of the play in the midfield with the odd break for either side.
Steele had an early effort fall onto the roof of the net in the first half, it wasn’t until the second half that the Robins seemed to look more dangerous, accuracy and final ball control let the visitors off on several occasions. Michael O’Regan had a header palmed away while Aaron Heap’s powerful blast rocked the crossbar with skipper Amer Awadh blasting the rebound over the bar woke the 303 supporters up and into song, Steele then forced a low save by Chenoweth.
Tonight the Robins travel once again to Thatcham Town, kick-off 19:45, live updates on the club X (formerly Twitter) account.
