PREVIEW: Evesham United vs Taunton Town

Saturday 17th October 2026 – Southern League Premier South Division

Evesham United welcome Taunton Town to the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium on Saturday for their next fixture in the Southern League Premier South.

The Peacocks will arrive sitting 12th in the table with 13 points from 10 games and are just one spot above Evesham, who remain in 13th position despite falling to their third consecutive league defeat against Bath City on Tuesday evening.

Taunton’s midweek game at Gloucester was postponed after their team failed to reach the stadium on time following a serious accident which closed the M5 motorway. Before last weekend’s home defeat to Hanwell, they had picked up 4 points from their two most recent away games at Havant and Frome.

Robins’ manager Mike Ford, speaking after Tuesday’s defeat, highlighted the quality of Evesham’s recent performances and the positive mood within the squad despite the results. The Robins have faced three of the league’s most highly rated sides in their last three games and, while all have ended in narrow defeats, there have been plenty of encouraging signs from the young squad.

United have competed strongly in each of those games and will take confidence from matching teams expected to be challenging near the top of the table. The task now is to turn those encouraging displays into points.

Saturday at the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium will provide an excellent opportunity to do exactly that, with a chance for both teams to re-establish a top half position.
