Match Report: Poole Town 3-1 Evesham United
Saturday 4th October 2026 – Southern League Premier Division South
Despite a strong performance in Dorset on Saturday, Evesham United lost 3-1 to Poole Town, who moved up to fourth in the Southern Premier Division South.
Poole created the first chance when Selim Saied played Nat Chioma through on goal, but his weak shot was comfortably saved by Evesham goalkeeper Oscar Varney.
Evesham took the lead in the sixth minute after a defensive mix-up. Adam Parkes saved Kai Churchley’s shot, but the ball fell straight to Sopuru Obieri, who scored from close range.
Poole equalised in the 18th minute when Chioma delivered a perfectly weighted ball into the box for Joe Oastler, whose header found the far corner from distance.
Five minutes later, the Dolphins took the lead. After the referee inadvertently blocked an Evesham player, Brandon Goodship found space inside the centre circle and launched a long-range effort from his own half over the goalkeeper and into the top-left corner.
Possession remained even until half-time, with Evesham going closest, only for Poole’s defence to snuff out the opportunity.
In the 57th minute, Chioma raced down the wing and delivered a well-timed cross to Antonio Diaz at the back post. Diaz controlled it on his chest before sending his effort just wide.
Just after the hour, the Robins tried to counter, but Harvey Slade stopped the move with a well-timed sliding tackle. Kai Churchley then met Josh McConnell’s pass, only to send his effort narrowly wide of the far post.
A minute later, Poole made it 3-1. Ezio Touray latched onto a long clearance from the Poole goalkeeper, raced through on goal and lifted the ball over Varney into the visitors’ net.
The hosts nearly added a fourth in the 85th minute when Charlie Davis’ shot rolled narrowly wide of the far post. In stoppage time, Evesham won a free kick in a dangerous position, but the effort struck the defensive wall.
It was a frustrating result for the Robins, who next travel to West London to face Uxbridge on Saturday, with kick-off at 3 pm.
