Match Report: Evesham United 2-0 Chippenham Town
Tuesday 29th August 2026 – Southern League Premier Division South
A goal in each half gave Evesham United an important Southern League Premier Division South victory over Chippenham Town on Tuesday.
The opening was quiet until the eighth minute, when Jack Witchard parried Sup Obieri’s close-range shot and Aaron Heap thundered the rebound against the bar.
The Bluebirds’ first chance came when Will King’s shot from outside the box was deflected behind for a corner. Evesham responded with two efforts that did not trouble the keeper.
Chippenham threatened down the flanks, although two crosses came to nothing. On the half-hour, a flowing move found Lewis Royston, whose effort was saved by Evesham goalkeeper Oscar Varney. Soon afterwards, Heap raced down the right and delivered a hard, low cross, but no one was there to turn it in. In the 41st minute, Obieri met Brandon Liggett’s pass but delayed too long, allowing the keeper to save comfortably with his feet.
The contest remained even, and the visitors created the next opening when former Robin Felix Miles’ fine work led to a close-range shot that Jyrel Bojang superbly blocked.
In first-half stoppage time, Kai Churchley held up the ball near halfway and found Player of the Match Owen Foye on the left. Foye raced down the wing and crossed for Churchley, who finished neatly into the bottom-left corner from around ten yards. Evesham went into the break one goal ahead after an even half in which both sides had chances.
Chippenham began the second half brightly. Joel Odei-Larbi had one effort blocked and another saved before becoming involved again when Lewis Royston squared the ball to the centre-forward. Odei-Larbi slid it home, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Just after the hour, the visitors missed a gilt-edged chance: Alex Kieh’s diagonal ball was headed down by Royston into the path of Miles, whose volley from inside the area went wide of the left post.
Evesham responded with two chances: Churchley’s shot was tipped over, while Liggett created space before firing well wide from 20 yards.
With 15 minutes remaining, Evesham were awarded a penalty after Ben Richards-Everton brought down Tom Conteh. Liggett stepped up and confidently sent the diving Witchard the wrong way.
With ten minutes remaining, Chippenham regained possession in midfield, and Henry Sady found space to shoot, but his effort sailed over. Conteh had the final chance, carrying the ball from inside his own half into the penalty area before Witchard saved his powerful shot from the right.
Following Saturday’s FA Trophy win, another strong performance lifted Evesham to eighth in the league table. They next travel to Dorset to face Poole Town on Saturday.
