PREVIEW: Evesham United vs Chippenham Town

Chippenham Town, the Bluebirds from Wiltshire, visit the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium on Tuesday evening, hoping to turn their fortunes around after relegation from the National League South last season. They have advanced to the FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round this season, beating Yate Town in a replay last Tuesday, but they have started the campaign disappointingly in the league. They currently lie in 18th place, having taken only 7 points from their opening 7 games, winning just two of them. This puts them 3 points and four league places below the Robins. This may be a slightly false position, however, and their full potential was possibly seen in their superb 3-2 home win against runaway league leaders Plymouth Parkway.
The Bluebirds play their football at Hardenhuish Park, their home for over a 100 years. They are a long established and historic club, now in their 153rd year, making them possibly the oldest football club in Wiltshire. Their most recent history has arguably been the most successful in their long existence, including runs to the FA Cup 1st Round Proper and ten consecutive seasons in the National League South, the sixth tier of English League football. They held their own well at that level for a decade, until their relegation last season, and reached the play-offs one year.
The Robins will be looking to continue their solid league form and gain the three points that would help them climb the table. It will be a keenly fought game, no doubt.
