Pitching In Southern League Premier South
Evesham United head into a crucial Easter weekend of football with two pivotal fixtures that could define their season.
The action begins on Good Friday at the Spiers & Hartwell Stadium, where high-flying Poole Town are the visitors. The Dolphins currently sit 4th and look strong favourites to secure a play-off berth, holding a seven-point cushion over 6th-placed Chertsey Town. However, their early-season momentum has dipped slightly, with the Dorset side collecting just six points from their last six matches.
The Robins, meanwhile, will be buoyed by a dramatic midweek turnaround against Tiverton Town. Coming from behind late on to secure a vital three points, Evesham claimed their first away win since September, thus providing a huge injection of confidence at just the right time. With a strong travelling support from the south coast expected the atmosphere on Friday should be electric.
Attention then turns to Easter Monday, as Evesham travel 45 miles south down the M5 to Lodge Road to face Yate Town in what promises to be a seismic encounter.
The Bluebells have spent much of the campaign near the foot of the table but have shown signs of life in recent weeks, taking four points from their last two home matches and with a trip to Chertsey to come on Friday. That mini run has lifted them out of the relegation zone onto 39 points—just three behind Evesham—adding even greater significance to Monday’s clash.
With the fixture designated all-ticket for away supporters, a huge following is expected to make the journey from Worcestershire, creating another intense atmosphere as the Robins push to secure their Step Three status.
