Evesham United suffered their first defeat of 2026, returning from Dorset empty handed after a narrow 1–0 loss at Dorchester Town.
The hosts had the first chance when skipper Lee Hodsons free kick was easily dealt with. Immediately after Evesham’s Andre Wright fired the first shot on goal but it was saved by Gerard Benfield and then three minutes later Wright again had an opportunity set up by Jyrel Bojang, but his shot went out of the ground.
On the quarter hour Dorchester had their first shot on target via Luke Pardoe saved by Alex Harris at the second attempt after a big penalty shout for a trip by a defender in the box. Soon after the visitors did well to win possession in the box and Kai Churchley fired a deflected effort at goal that was saved.
Despite Evesham’s control for much of the opening half hour, Dorchester took the lead in the 33rd minute. Cam Murray’s through ball released Pardoe, who rounded Harris before the loose ball fell to Joe Pardoe to finish. Dorchester nearly doubled their advantage before the interval, Parker’s powerful strike drifting narrowly wide of the far post.
Ten minutes into the second half Evesham skipper Amer Awadh had the first opportunity but his shot from twenty yards went flying out of the ground. With twenty minutes left excellent work from Parker created a Dorchester break from which Pardoe forced a corner that went to nothing. Churchley had a shot parried away and Middleton looped a header wide for the visitors.
With the game nearing its conclusion the hosts should have doubled their lead. Pardoe’s run and shot was fumbled by Harris, but he got up quickly to block Wooding’s rebound follow-up.
Clear chances were limited overall, and Evesham were unable to break down a resilient Dorchester defence. The Robins remain without an away victory since late September.
Evesham United return to action on Saturday with a home fixture against fifth placed Sholing, kick off at 3pm.
