Match Report by Simon Corbett

Evesham Utd Women welcomed league newcomers Kempsey Phoenix Ladies to the 3G pitch at The Spiers & Hartwell Stadium on Sunday. Manager Mark Taylor made four changes to the team that played Kingfisher Development, with Saff Boswell, Jess Kenny, Ria Salleh and Millie Whitehead all coming into the starting line-up.

The hosts suffered a blow in the warm-up, with Clare Williams going down with a nasty ankle injury and being unable to take part in the game. It didn’t take long for the hosts to put the visitors on the back foot with shots from Kenny, Boswell and Whitehead being saved by the keeper.

It was in the 10th minute that Boswell opened the scoring with a thumping drive. Grace Finch was next to come close, cutting in on the left before shooting just over. Boswell made it two after a nice move before Finch hit wide after the keeper dropped the ball. Some excellent football resulted in the third when Whitehead and Tallulah Brown combined, Whitehead delivering a great cross for Finch to head home.

Kempsey had their first chance on the half hour with keeper Chloe Raxter saving comfortably. Moments later, Finch set up Brown for number four and minutes before the break, Boswell made it 5-0.

Substitutions were made with Ella Parkinson coming on, and with her direct running, she caused the opposition many problems. Said problems resulted in Boswell notching again.

The goals kept coming with a short Liv Tresigne corner finding Finch, who blasted home an unstoppable strike. Grace Dolphin and Jennifer Bent came on, and Evesham continued their attacks, Parkinson hitting the post and in turn, setting up Boswell to make it 9-0.

A Finch cross was headed into her own net by a Kempsey defender to make it 10-0. Raxter in the home goal had to stay alert despite the lack of action at her end, saving from a rare Kempsey chance.

Finch hit the post with the rebound being drilled home by Salleh, and a Tresigne corner was headed in by Kyra Bostock to complete the scoring against what was a spirited Kempsey Phoenix side.

Player of the Match was Saff Boswell with her 5-star performance.

On Sunday (07/12/25), Evesham Utd Women travel to Worcester to take on Worcester City Lionesses.
