A chilly Tuesday night saw Evesham exit the Worcestershire FA Senior Invitational Cup at the Spires and Hartwell Stadium at the Quarter-Final stage with last years finalists, and winners Alvechurch taking the tie by a single goal.
It was a repeat of last season’s final that ended in a penalty shootout with Alvechurch taking the spoils. This time a disappointing result for the Robins sees Alvechurch progress to the Semi-Final stages to take on Stourbridge who won 3-1 away at Stourport Swifts also on Tuesday evening.
Back to the match, as early as the 12th minute a long ball from Archie Crowther over Robins defence found Omar Sterling-James who was off balance just inside the Evesham half but still managed to slot the ball past the Robins defence and Alex Harris to open the scoring.
Chances followed for the visitors in the second half, but overall the play was more even with the Robins enjoying a much improved second half. The Robins had better possession and moved the ball forward quickly, but there were next to no chances to trouble keeper Ronnie Hollingshead.
The Robins go again this Saturday with a tough visit to 14th placed Larkhall Athletic at the Securitas Stadium, Plain Ham, Charlcombe Lane, Bath BA1 8DJ, kick-off 3:00 pm for this Southern League fixture. Our next home match takes place on Saturday 16th of November against Helston Athletic currently sitting in third place in the league one ahead of the Robins.
